The University of
Cambridge Certificates are among the most widely recognized
British English language examinations in the world. The curriculum
incorporates Listening, Speaking, Writing, Reading and Structure
and provides essential English language skills and test-taking
strategies.
Students must write the Cambridge Placement Test to ensure their
language proficiency meets the minimum requirements for all Cambridge
programs. Home country level testing can be arranged to determine
if the student is ready to enter a Cambridge program.

Who benefits from the University of Cambridge Certificate
Programs?
Students who want to learn practical English as used by native
speakers in professional and university settings. Students
learn to effectively distinguish and use formal and informal
English, with an emphasis on real-life tasks and situations.
Cambridge will help ensure you have the skills to communicate
clearly and effectively with native speakers.
Preliminary English Test (PET):
An intermediate level Cambridge test. Graduates can communicate
satisfactorily in most situations.

Length: 4 - 12 weeks
Hours: 27 hours / week
First Certificate in English (FCE):
An upper intermediate level Cambridge test. Recognized by many
employers and universities as proof of competence in English.
Start Date: September 13, 2010
Exam Date: December 7, 2010
Length: 12 weeks (except January 4, which is a 10 week program)
Hours: 30 hours / week
Cambridge Advanced English (CAE):
An advanced level Cambridge test showing high-level qualifications
in English for professional purposes. CAE is widely recognized
by universities for admission. Graduates have confidence in
using English fluently and with ease.

Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT)
The University of Cambridge Certificates are among the most widely recognized English language examinations in the world. VanWest is pleased to include Cambridge’s internationally recognized Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) in our range of Cambridge programs.
VanWest’s two-month program is recommended for teachers at all stages in their careers who would like Cambridge certification and professional recognition. It is also suitable for those who plan to teach English and want to improve their chances of getting a suitable job. In addition to preparing for the TKT examination, candidates will develop practical skills in the classroom. It’s an excellent way to enhance or begin your teaching career!
* Please note that TKT examinations are graded on a band scale from one to four rather than pass/fail.
Start: Monthly
Length: 4 - 8 weeks
Hours: 15 or 30 hours / week
Requirement: PET or Level 4
The TKT program is recommended for teachers and aspiring teachers whose English level is at an intermediate to advanced level. Candidates must write our Cambridge Placement test to ensure that minimum requirements for this program are met (PET or VanWest Level 4). Home country level testing can be arranged to determine if a candidate is ready to enter the TKT program.
