Learning English in Real World Situations
Learning English in Vancouver means more than coming to class every day. A large part of your experience will be after school hours when you will meet new friends and enjoy all that Vancouver and Kelowna have to offer. We organize a variety of activities to suit people of all nationalities and interests. Some activities include hockey games, pub nights, festivals, concerts, hiking, biking, cultural days, yoga, restaurants, skating, skiing, movie nights, football games, beach parties and free conversation club (Monday – Thursday). We speak English only at all activities!

VanWest Conversation Club
International students have access to a free conversation club at VanWest College four times a week. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays the conversation club is run by a VanWest English teacher; while on Wednesdays Bill, who has been volunteering with VanWest for over 20 years leads the club.
The VanWest Conversation Club is open to the public, so take this oportunity to meet different people, learn from different cultures and practice speaking English all at the same time!

VanWest College Soccer Club

VanWest College participates in the Vancouver ESL Soccer League organized by West Trek Tours. This is a private inter-collegiate soccer league that runs in the Spring and Summer in Vancouver. VanWest College was the league champion in 2005 and 2006!

You can explore British Columbia's wineries, play tennis, golf, go camping, kayaking, white water rafting, fishing and mountain biking in the beautiful natural settings that have made Canada famous.

Winter at VanWest

To enjoy world-class skiing and snowboarding, join our many winter activities. Trips to local mountains (half-hour from Vancouver) are available each week, as well as tours to famous resorts like Whistler / Blackcomb, Big White, Silverstar and SunPeaks. We also offer Learn-to-Ski / Snowboard packages, snowshoe hiking and snowmobile fun.

Weekend Trips and Adventures

Our Activity Coordinator organizes weekend trips to Victoria, located on Vancouver Island (1.5 hours by ferry), Seattle (located in the United States, just 2 hours from Vancouver) and Whistler (the world famous ski resort, 2 hours from Vancouver).

School Events

School events are also organized regularly to bring students together. Such events include: guest speakers, monthly parties, boat cruises, disco nights, barbecue dinners on the beach, etc.
